AU Summit ended incident free

As the 27th African Union Summit held between 10th and 18th July comes to an end, Rwanda National Police (RNP) would like to appreciate the role played by all partners to ensure maximum security in the country and of the event in particular, which ended incident-free.

The security coverage for the AU Summit required concerted efforts of all partners, stakeholders and security agencies as well as compliance of the general public with the rules, laws and regulations supported by effective information sharing to ensure a smooth and peaceful event.

During the summit, Kigali residents, partners in security and local administration were involved and contributed immensely to ensuring that security and safety prevail.

Road users and particularly motorists complied with the changes and road diversions or restrictions, gave positive feedback and constantly interacted with police which resulted into effective road usage.

This continues to be the norm among our communities and it gives us confidence that even other similar future major international events will be successfully policed.

This is in line with the RNP vision of “People in Rwanda are safe, involved and reassured.”
