Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) held their Extraordinary General Meeting in Musanze District on September 17 & 18, 2016 at La Palme Hotel in Musanze District. The assembly came up with various resolutions includes the prizes for Rwanda Azam premierleague winner and peace cup and approved the 2016/17 Azam Rwanda Premier League Season to start on October 14, 2016.
The Ferwafa extra ordinary general assembly approved the prize money for the Azam Rwanda Premier League 2016/17 to be Rwf 25millions and Rwf 10 million for 2016 Peace Cup Tournament, the increase in prize money aimed at giving value to the league and bringing motivation to clubs to stage competitive performances in the upcoming season.
Top two teams and top four will be awarded 3 million and 2 million respectively in Azam Rwanda premierleague while 3 million, 2 million and 1 million for the second, third and fourth runner respectively in peace cup tournament.
The Extra Ordinary General Assembly approved the appointment of Mrs. Uwamahoro Latifah Tharcille as the New Secretary General of Rwanda Football federation.
Following a meeting between FERWAFA Executive Committee, Ministry of Sports and Culture and the Ticketing Company Innovys, it was agreed that Innovys remain in contract to handle ticketing issues of National Team Matches as FERWAFA secures a private company to undertake electronic ticketing of all Azam Rwanda Premier League Matches.
Based on Article 89 (1) of the FERWAFA Competition Regulation The FERWAFA Extra Ordinary General Assembly approved a one-year ban for second Division Clubs Gasabo United and Unity Fc after they lost three matches by default in this year’s second division league.
SEC Fc President Mr. Munyandamutsa Augustin banned for two years and a fine of Rwf. 500, 000 for offence against honour and Incitement to hatred or violence as cited in Article 55 and 58 of the FERWAFA Disciplinary Code.
