Secondary students urged to embrace the fight against the genocide ideology

The National Commission for the Fight against the Genocide (CNLG) has urged secondary students in Nyagatare to take part in the fight against the genocide ideology. The remarks were given by the representative of the Commission in Nyagatare while giving anti-genocide ideology lectures to over 1200 students in GS Nyagatare on 20th October 2016.

The representative of the CNLG explained the characteristics of genocide ideology, the genocide itself and how it occurs, recalling the need for remembrance and inclusive fight against the genocide ideology. She reminded that laws punishing those who exhibit genocide ideology have been established.

After lectures students exhibited commitment to take part in the fight against the genocide. They also suggested that the CNLG could offer them such lectures several times so as for them to understand better the history of Rwanda, especially the history that lead to the Genocide committed against the Tutsi in 1994.

They wonder, for example, the relationship that exists between the death of former President Habyarimana and the Genocide against the Tutsi, the role of France in the genocide, and other curious questions.
