AFC/M23 Accuses Kinshasa Government of Continuing War Activities

The Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC/M23) has announced that the Kinshasa government continues military operations aimed at warfare, despite recently signing a framework agreement in Doha on July 19, 2025.

AFC/M23 reports that it has obtained information showing that Kinshasa government forces and armed groups are continuing to move into areas including Nzimbira, Mwenga, Bunyakiri, Kibuwa, Pinga, and Uvira. These actions violate the ceasefire agreements and signal an escalation towards renewed conflict.

The alliance further states that on Sunday, August 10, 2025, boats arrived in Uvira carrying 1,125 soldiers from the Kinshasa government’s armed coalitions.

The AFC/M23 statement notes that these troop movements are accompanied by attacks targeting densely populated civilian areas, resulting in numerous civilian deaths and a large number of refugees, thereby worsening humanitarian access and aid delivery.

AFC/M23 emphasizes that it will remain vigilant and take measures to protect civilians, while reaffirming its commitment to pursuing a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflicts in the country.
